Public results on climbtable.com
Show your comps and leagues on climbtable.com. Only climbers who choose to appear, aged 16 and over, under a display name they pick.
Your comps and leagues can appear on climbtable.com: each category’s round results and league table, live during a round and final afterwards. It is off until an owner switches it on, and only climbers who choose to appear are shown.
Switch it on (owners)
- Wall settings, Public results. Read what is shown, then press Publish results on climbtable.com.
- Your public address is shown there, for example /results/your-wall-name. Owners can change it. Links people already have stop working if you do.
- Check each comp or league’s categories (Overview tab): Junior category (never public) is ticked for names like Junior, Youth, Kids, U12, U14 or Under-16. Tick it for any other category that has climbers under 16. Once saved, it cannot be unticked: if a name was caught by mistake, rename the category. A box ticked by hand stays ticked.
Anyone on your team can press Stop publishing on climbtable.com. Everything from your wall comes off straight away.
For your climbers’ comp data, your wall is the controller and ClimbTable is your processor: we handle it only to run your comps and leagues, on your instructions. Public results are different. If you switch on public results for your comps and leagues, you allow ClimbTable to show the results of climbers who choose to appear on climbtable.com. For that, ClimbTable is the controller, with each climber’s consent, and a climber can withdraw at any time. Junior categories and under-16s never appear. You stay the controller of your comp data and decide whether to publish.
What climbers choose
- When they join, and later on their phone’s Me tab, climbers see an unticked box: Show my results on climbtable.com. It only shows when your wall publishes.
- Ticking it asks them to confirm I’m 16 or over and to pick a public display name: their first name and initial to start with, 2 to 30 characters. Emails and web addresses are not allowed, and nor are rude words.
- They can change their display name, or press Stop showing my results, on the Me tab at any time. They come off climbtable.com straight away.
- Climbers in a junior category never see the box, and never appear.
What is shown
- The display name, the category, the climber’s true rank, and their points or score, tops, zones and flashes. For a league, each round’s score, with dropped rounds struck through, and the total.
- Ranks are each climber’s place among everyone who climbed, so they keep their gaps (1, 4, 9) when some climbers chose not to appear. The page says “Only climbers who chose to appear are shown.”
- Never shown: full names, emails, attempts, partner codes, staff notes, test runs or anything else about anyone.
A climber asks to come off
They can do it themselves on their phone’s Me tab. If they cannot (a new phone, no phone), open the comp or league, Entrants tab, find them and press Take off in the On climbtable.com column. It is logged in the Change log. Only the climber can put themselves back on, from the phone they joined on.
Privacy, in short
- Why: to show the climber’s results on climbtable.com, which they asked for.
- On what basis: the climber’s consent, given by ticking the box. It is recorded with the time and the wording they agreed to. If that wording changes in a way that matters, they are asked again.
- Under-16s: public results are for climbers aged 16 and over only. There is no other way to appear.
- Withdrawing: the Me tab, or ask the wall. It takes effect straight away.
- The wall runs the comp or league and decides whether to publish its results. ClimbTable runs climbtable.com and asks for each climber’s consent, so for public results ClimbTable is the controller.
- For climbtable.com, for wall staff accounts, for billing and for public results on climbtable.com, ClimbTable is the controller. Public results are shown only when the wall switches them on and the climber chooses to appear.
